Israeli airstrikes hit multiple towns in southern Lebanon, with Hezbollah retaliating against Israeli forces and a key military headquarters.
BEIRUT: Israeli forces carried out a series of airstrikes across southern Lebanon at dawn. Lebanese state media reported strikes on the towns of Majdal Selm, Kafra, Hanniyeh, Touline, and Adloun.
The National News Agency also reported strikes on the city of Nabatiyeh. It said the strikes hit residential and commercial buildings and a fuel station.
The agency reported further strikes on border towns, including Taybeh. It also noted an attempted advance by Israeli forces toward the Litani area.
The Israeli military confirmed it was continuing to strike Hezbollah infrastructure across Lebanon. It stated it had hit dozens of Hezbollah sites overnight.
The military also said it killed two senior members of Hezbollah’s communications unit in a strike on Beirut on Friday. Overnight strikes were conducted from the air and sea across southern Lebanon.
The IDF said the strikes were in support of ground troops. They are part of an ongoing effort to degrade Hezbollah’s capabilities in the area.
For its part, Hezbollah said it targeted gatherings of Israeli forces in Debel. Debel is a predominantly Christian border town with some remaining residents.
The group said it struck a Merkava tank in Debel with an attack drone. It also targeted an Israeli force positioned in a house in the same town.
Hezbollah also announced it targeted the Israeli military’s Northern Command headquarters. The headquarters is north of the city of Safed in northern Israel and was hit with a volley of rockets.
