Israel urged to detain Russian ship containing stolen Ukrainian grain

  • Ukraine has urged Israel to detain a Russian vessel suspected of transporting grain stolen from occupied Ukrainian territories.
  • The ship, named ABINSK, is reportedly carrying 43,765.18 tonnes of wheat, allegedly from occupied regions.
  • Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha raised the issue directly with his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa’ar.
  • The vessel is currently docked at the Port of Haifa, escalating a diplomatic row over alleged wartime looting.
  • Mr Sybiha warned that the vessel forms part of Moscow's wider war effort, and separately, he stressed that the "illegal export of stolen agricultural products" must not be allowed to continue.
