An ambulance driver in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand is under investigation for stopping to buy pisang goreng from a roadside vendor while transporting a patient to the hospital. According to reports, the driver allegedly placed an order for the fried bananas beforehand and made a brief stop to collect the order while en route with the patient. Following the incident, the hospital sent representatives to apologize to the family of the 64-year-old patient, Sommai Thongkerd. The incident reportedly took place on a Friday when Thongkerd was experiencing breathing difficulties, and during the journey, the driver briefly stopped to pick up his order of pisang goreng.

The driver is said to have placed the order online and instructed the vendor to deliver the food as he was en route to the hospital. Thongkerd's daughter, who was also in the ambulance with her father, suffering from respiratory distress, witnessed the incident and voiced her complaint on social media after her grievances to the hospital went unaddressed.
