Kuala Lumpur: A 26-year-old Italian man has been charged with forgery and breach of trademarks after he modified a Toyota MR Coupé into a Ferrari F430.

The modified car was seized by police during a routine check at Asti, Italy, Oddity Central reported.

According to the portal, the counterfeit red Ferrari featured all the iconic elements of the F430, from the prancing horse logo on the bonnet and steering wheel, to the rims, brake calipers and iconic headlights.

It is unclear what made police suspect the car was a forgery but their suspicion was confirmed by a team of experts summoned by them to check.

The forger spared no effort when duplicating the sports car.

Instead of a simple carbon fiber frame over a regular chassis and some fake logos, the forger followed the real F430

Both the exterior and the interior of the car were modeled after the F430 Ferrari built between 2004 and 2009 at Maranello.

The car even featured original Ferrari parts and accessories.
