KUALA LUMPUR: ITMAX System Bhd, an artificial intelligence-powered integrated digital infrastructure service provider, announced that its subsidiary, Southmax Sdn Bhd, has been appointed by Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) as the smart parking operator in the Johor Bahru area.

Under the appointment, Southmax will be responsible for implementing and operating the smart parking system for on-street parking within MBJB’s jurisdiction.

The contract will span 15 years, from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2041.

This appointment will be executed under a revenue-sharing model, whereby Southmax will receive 70% of the revenue generated from the parking fees and parking compounds collected through the Parkmax@JOHOR application.

ITMAX System managing director and CEO William Tan Wei Lun said the group is pleased to be appointed by MBJB as the smart parking operator, further strengthening ITMAX’s footprint in Johor.

“This marks our eighth smart parking contract in the state, meaning we now serve half of Johor’s 16 local councils, reflecting the strong confidence placed in our smart city solutions.

“As the capital city of Johor, Johor Bahru plays a pivotal role in driving the state’s digital transformation.

“With Johor Bahru having the largest parking ecosystem in Johor, the city presents significant opportunities for the deployment of smart parking solutions.

“Through the implementation of our technology-driven system, we aim to enhance enforcement efficiency, improve parking collection rates, and provide a more seamless and convenient parking experience for the public.

“This appointment further reinforces ITMAX’s position as a key technology partner supporting Johor’s smart city development,” he said.
