KUALA LUMPUR: ITMAX System Bhd, an artificial intelligence-powered integrated digital infrastructure service provider,
has received a notification of approval from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for a RM134.3 million project to act as the universal service provider for the Kota Kinabalu Smart City Project.

The approval notification includes an implementation period of up to 24 months, followed by an operational period of 5 years.

Under the notification of approval, ITMAX is responsible for the design, supply, installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of a Network Operation Command Centre and Smart Video Surveillance System to be deployed across Kota Kinabalu City.

ITMAX System managing director and CEO William Tan Wei Lun said securing this contract marks ITMAX’s entry into East Malaysia and represents another important milestone in its nationwide expansion strategy.

“We see significant growth potential in the region, where smart city development remains at an early stage, and demand for intelligent digital infrastructure continues to grow.

“Beyond enhancing public safety and operational efficiency, our integrated smart city solutions will contribute towards creating a safer, smarter and more connected urban environment for both residents and visitors.

“As one of Malaysia’s key tourism destinations, we believe Kota Kinabalu will benefit from smarter urban infrastructure that supports sustainable city development and the continued growth of its tourism economy,” he said.
