Ivory Coast have made contact with Fofana about switching international allegiances, says L'Equipe.
Fofana, yet to be capped by France, was born in Marseille to a French mother and an Ivorian father.
However for the moment, the defender remains committed to playing for France.
Fofana has five U21 caps with France.
