PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar has been named among 30 others on Project Syndicate's Forward Thinker's List.
Project Syndicate is an international non-profit media organisation that publishes and syndicates commentary and analysis on a variety of global topics.
All opinion pieces are published on the Project Syndicate website and also distributed to a wide network of partner publications for print.
As of 2019, it has a network of 506 media outlets in 156 countries.
Project Syndicate’s Forward Thinkers list recognises emerging intellectual innovators.
It brings together 30 influential voices from academia, policymaking, civil society, and the private sector.
These individuals tackle a wide range of critical issues, from climate change and geopolitics to the future of capitalism and the health of liberal democracy.
Each participant is a leader in their field, and their insights will not only shape public discourse within their respective countries but also have a growing impact on the global stage in the years to come.
The final selection was carefully chosen by Project Syndicate’s editors with the aim of showcasing voices that will help shape and illuminate political debates in the years to come.
Izzah, 44, served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Permatang Pauh from 2018 to 2022 and for Lembah Pantai from 2008 to 2018.
Notably, Izzah is the only Southeast Asian Muslim woman included in this prestigious cohort, a reflection of her unique voice and influence not just within Malaysia, but on the global stage.
She also recently announced that she will be defending her vice-presidency in the coming PKR elections.
In addition to her political role, she currently serves as Chairman of the think tank POLITY, where she continues to champion inclusive governance, social justice, healthcare accessibility and equity. – April 22, 2025
