The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Friday said it had executed proclamation orders against banned Hizbul Mujahideen chief Mohammad Yousuf Shah alias Syed Salahuddin and three other accused who have been evading arrest in a case registered in 1996.
In a statement, the CIK said it executed the proclamation order issued by the Additional Sessions Judge TADA/POTA (Special Judge designated under the NIA Act), Srinagar, under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, against Syed Salahuddin and three other accused wanted in a case registered at Police Station CIK.
Officials said the accused were found to be deliberately evading arrest and avoiding legal proceedings during the course of the investigation.
“Accordingly, proclamation proceedings were initiated by the court, directing the accused to appear before it on July 14, 2026, at 10 am, failing which further action under law shall follow,” the statement said.
The CIK said its team executed the proclamation order in strict compliance with legal procedures and pasted copies at conspicuous locations, including the main gates of the accused persons’ residences. “The publication of the proclamation was photographed and videographed as well,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the presence of absconding accused before the law, the CIK said it would continue to conduct thorough investigations in cases involving serious offences.
