Kota Kinabalu: The Community Communications Department (J-Kom) is committed to acting as a bridge between the grassroots public and the government by relaying ground-level issues to the relevant authorities for resolution, said its director Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali.
Speaking at a networking session with Sabah media practitioners here on Monday, Mohd Hisyamuddin emphasised that while the department safeguards the government's narrative, its primary focus remains bridging public concerns with policymakers.
He noted that media practitioners serve as a vital source of raw ground data during discussions, highlighting public income and the rising cost of living as the top priorities to be raised directly to the government.
Other key concerns highlighted by local media during the session included the cabotage policy's impact on goods prices, airfare costs, diesel issues, and Sabah's infrastructure challenges, particularly road conditions.
The session, attended by 40 media practitioners and department staff, forms part of J-Kom’s ongoing nationwide tour to engage local media and gather regional input for government action.
