Jaguar Land Rover to cut hundreds of jobs amid major overhaul

  • Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced plans to reduce its workforce, with fewer than 300 jobs expected to be affected as part of a major transformation programme.
  • These job cuts are part of the car manufacturer's strategy to evolve its operating model, accelerate growth, and improve decision-making and performance.
  • The company is also continuing its recovery from a significant cyber attack last year, which led to a five-week production halt at its UK factories from September 1 and resulted in substantial financial losses.
  • JLR, which employs approximately 30,000 people across the UK and 10,000 overseas, did not disclose the specific locations where the job reductions would occur.
  • The carmaker previously revealed intentions to cut around £1.7 billion in costs over the coming years through measures such including reductions in materials, warranty, and fixed costs to support its ongoing recovery.
