
Kota Kinabalu: The Magistrate’s Court here Thursday sentenced a man to 12 months jail for committing mischief by cutting the cable belonging to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).
Matshah, 37, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to committing the offence along the road towards UiTM on June 13 at 1.40pm.
The charge under Section 431A of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to two years or fine or both, on conviction.
The prosecution informed the court that Matshah was arrested by police after witnesses saw him cutting the cable with a machete.

Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man was jailed for six months for removing four units of stolen irons.
Supriadi Arjo admitted to committing the offence on March 1 at 10.30am at the YT Chong Enterprise, Kg Buit Hill, Jalan Datuk Darius Binion, Penampang.
The charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between six months and seven years and liability of a fine, on conviction.
The court heard from the prosecution that the items were among properties stolen from the complainant’s house at Taman Sipanggil, Putatan on Feb 28.
In another case, a 29-year-old man was fined RM100 or a day’s jail for fraudulently had RM3,000 deposited into his bank account.
Muhd Nazree Nahhia pleaded guilty to having the money belonging to Adrian Leong in which he failed to give a satisfactory explanation on how he obtained them on June 10, last year, here.
The offence under Section 22A (1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance, provides a fine of up to RM100 or up to three months jail or both, on conviction.
