JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said LRT Jakarta could be extended to Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 and connected directly to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. He made the remarks while inaugurating the Tian Fu Gong temple area in PIK, North Jakarta, on Sunday, May 17.
Jakarta’s government-owned portal, BeritaJakarta, reported the same event as the inauguration of Tian Fu Gong Temple at Riverwalk Island, PIK 2, Jakarta Utara. Its report said Pramono was considering transport connectivity to PIK 2, including the possibility of an LRT line linked to the area.
The LRT section already cleared by the central government reaches Ancol, Pramono said. “For the LRT, the track has actually already received approval from the central government up to Ancol,” he said, as also quoted by Indonesia’s state-owned agency Antara.
The part not yet settled is the segment beyond Ancol. Pramono said the next section to prepare would connect Ancol to PIK 2 and then to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Antara reported the possible northern route as Tanjung Priok, Jakarta International Stadium, Ancol, PIK 2 and Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
The proposal would come after the Velodrome-Manggarai extension. The current LRT Jakarta project spans about 12.2 kilometers with 11 stations and an investment value of Rp11.5 trillion. Pramono said the Velodrome-Manggarai extension was expected to be inaugurated in August next year.
A March 11 report from Jakarta’s government-owned English service said PT Jakarta Propertindo, the city-owned developer, had targeted August 2026 for the official launch of LRT Jakarta Phase 1B linking Velodrome to Manggarai. The same report said Phase 1B adds five stops: Rawamangun, Pramuka BPKP, Pasar Pramuka, Matraman and Manggarai.
Until any LRT link is built, passengers already have several public-transport options to Soekarno-Hatta. Commuter Line Basoetta runs between Manggarai, BNI City, Duri, Rawa Buaya, Batu Ceper and the airport.
Transjakarta also runs SH2 from Blok M to the airport office area, operating daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Rp3,500, with stops including Bundaran Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno, DPR/MPR, Slipi, Cengkareng, Stasiun KA Bandara and Perkantoran Soekarno-Hatta.
