
Kota Kinabalu: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) Sabah will be organising a Madani People’s Community Programme in Sekong, Sandakan on June 19.
Its Director Datuk Norjeli Dais said the programme, being organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Information Department (JaPen) Sabah, is one of the joint initiatives between the two agencies to serve the community.
He said Jakim Sabah and JaPen Sabah had discussed and planned to carry out the Madani People’s Community Programme in the east coast soon.

One of the highlights will be the live broadcast of the ‘Anjung Al-Taqwa Forum’ on the night of June 19.
“In the morning, we will hold several activities including ‘Tahsinul-Quran sessions, Fatihah Clinics’, and various other Islamic-themed programmes, such as funeral management workshops and ‘Ziarah Ramadhani’ (Ramadan visitations), among others.
“I’ve been informed that JaPen also has many activities lined up throughout the event. Hopefully, we can successfully carry out this programme together,” he said.
Norjeli told the media after receiving a courtesy call from JaPen, led by Information Director Jainisah Mohd Noor.
He also called on the local community to attend and enliven the event while strengthening communal ties.
“I urge the people in and around Sekong to attend and participate towards making this programme a success, so that we can further strengthen unity and the bonds between us, working toward a harmonious society,” he said.
Also present during the courtesy visit were the Senior Assistant Director of the Communication Services and Community Development Division, Peter Tong Ah Pin and Senior Assistant Director of the Media and Corporate Communication Division, Dr Diana Dominic.
