The Narnaul cyber police have arrested a sales officer of a private bank for his alleged involvement in a high-tech online fraud and mobile-hacking racket.

The accused, identified as Gaurav, was working as a sales officer (manager) at a private bank in Jalandhar.

As per a police spokesperson, the operation was executed by the cyber cell under direct guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak and leadership of ASP Faisal Khan as part of an intensified campaign against cyber criminals in the district.

On December 27, 2025, a complainant’s mobile phone was hacked and an amount of Rs 50,500 fraudulently withdrawn from his IndusInd Bank account through a mobile banking application.

The money thus siphoned off was utilised to clear a credit card bill. While reviewing the transaction history, the complainant discovered Gaurav’s mobile number displayed alongside the cardholder’s details.

Investigation revealed that the credit card belonged to a woman, and her husband’s phone number was linked to the account.

The police apprehended Gaurav from his workplace on June 3. A mobile phone was seized from his possession at the time of the arrest. The accused was produced before a local court on Thursday, which remanded him to judicial custody.

During the police interrogation, the accused confessed that he was lured by the prospect of making easy money. He came in contact with a cyber-fraudster, who hacked mobile phones to siphon off money.

The hacker offered Gaurav 20 percent commission for facilitating the clearance of credit card bills with the money thus received. Gaurav would deduct his share of the commission and transfer the remaining amount to his accomplice.
