James Van Der Beek shared his hopes for the spring in his final social media video before his death

The Dawson’s Creek star died aged 48, his family announced on Wednesday (11 February).

In a video shared on 15 January, the actor spoke about “impossible” New Year’s resolutions.

Arguing that animals use the winter period to hibernate, he said he would be spending the beginning of 2026 “recovering and resting”, instead focusing on his goals in spring.

Announcing his death, his wife, Kimberly, said in an Instagram post: “Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace.”
