Jamil Khir released after seven-day remand in Tabung Haji RCI probe

FORMER Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom has been released after completing a seven-day remand to assist the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into issues linked to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

Jamil Khir was released on MACC bail today after his remand period expired, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed.

The former minister had been remanded for seven days until today to assist investigations into the matter.

Jamil Khir’s lawyer, Datuk Hamidi Mohd Noh, was previously reported as saying that his client had consistently cooperated with investigators since 2018.

Hamidi said Jamil Khir had continued to assist the authorities and had never failed to cooperate throughout the period. - September 8, 2026
