The Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, operating on the newly constructed Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), has achieved a remarkable milestone in its initial days of operation.
Over the weekend, approximately 11,000 passengers travelled on the train, reflecting its growing popularity and regional connectivity boost. The train’s occupancy rate has reached an impressive 96 per cent, highlighting strong public enthusiasm.
Since the commencement of regular service on May 2, around 40,000 passengers have completed journeys on the Vande Bharat, enjoying its modern amenities. Data from the past nine days indicate an average occupancy rate of 86.5 per cent.
Covering the 267-kilometer distance between Jammu and Srinagar in just 4 hours and 50 minutes, the train offers significant time savings compared to road travel. Its route includes two engineering marvels—the world’s highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge, and the Anji Khad Bridge—making the journey a unique experience for both tourists and local commuters.
Passengers have praised the train for its safety standards, smooth ride, and high-quality onboard amenities.
Commenting on the success, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said, “We anticipate 100% occupancy during the upcoming tourist season. We promise passengers not only a faster journey but a luxurious travel experience amidst the Himalayan valleys. The Jammu Division remains committed to ensuring service and safety for all passengers.”
