PENAMPANG: Women remain the steady backbone of Kapayan’s community, says Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Datuk Jannie Lasimbang as she highlights their daily role in sustaining families and neighbourhood wellbeing.
She addressed doubts about women’s capacity for public responsibility by pointing to the long hours they already spend managing households, supporting ageing parents and keeping families afloat through difficult periods.
Jannie said these lived experiences give women a grounded understanding of the community’s challenges, especially in areas where many households are led by single mothers, full-time caregivers and women carrying the bulk of family duties.
Her office has assisted thousands of families over the past year, with Kapayan Bos and welfare aid programmes showing that most beneficiaries come from women-headed homes facing persistent financial strain.
She added that her term focused on building reliable support networks through partnerships with NGOs and government agencies, ensuring women at risk receive practical help that continues beyond the campaign season.
