MANILA, Philippines — Japanese manga (comic book) publisher Shueisha has made available some of its most popular manga series in more than 100 languages, which now include Tagalog.
Called "Manga Million," the new platform was launched ahead of the Manga publisher's 100th anniversary and to bring the appeal of Japanese manga to more people across the globe.
It brings together more than one million pages of Manga translated into major world languages, including English, Chinese, Thai, French, Korean among others.
Forty-four titles have been translated into Tagalog on the Manga Million website, which includes popular titles such as Demon Slayer, Naruto, One Piece, Gin Tama, Hunter X Hunter, My Hero Academia, Dandadan, Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen, Sakamoto Days, and Oshi no Ko, among others.
In its website, Shueisha assured that its translations were done by professionals, so everyone can enjoy reliable, high-quality content
"We want to deliver the excitement that makes your heart race, the emotion that moves you deeply, and the courage to take a step forward—even to those who have never experienced manga before," the publisher said in its website.
According to Anime News Network, Manga Plus editor in chief Shuhei Hosono said that the project began as a question on whether they would be able to translate one million pages of Manga in 100 languages as part of Shueisha's 100th year.
"As we developed the concept, we also saw it as a way to address the language barriers that still prevent many readers around the world from accessing manga. We hope that Manga Million, an unprecedented translation initiative spanning 100 languages and one million pages, will spark new discoveries and connections between readers and Japanese manga," Hosono said.
