Japanese YouTube couple ‘iChang RM’ are extremely well known in Malaysia for their content focused on exploring Malaysia and the food we have to offer such as showcasing them cooking Malaysian food and even handing out free nasi lemak in Hong Kong during Ramadhan.
Last month, the pair expressed their sadness and were left in tears after finding out that they had to leave the country after living here for over 2 years.
Fortunately, a few days after the video, the couple revealed that they would be returning back to Malaysia soon as their DE Rantau Nomad Pass had been approved by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
The couple recently shared a video detailing their experience collecting their Nomad Pass from MDEC. In the video, they appeared to be overjoyed.
“Since we started our iChang YouTube channel, we always visited Malaysia (under) tourist visa. When we started to get used to our life in Malaysia, that’s when we had to exit. But our lives are about to change.”
They revealed that with the Nomad Pass, they would be able to stay in Malaysia for about a total of 2 years!
To continue promoting Malaysia
Later on in the video, they explained how they sympathised with those working at MDEC as they understand that the process does take a while.
“So I thought I shouldn’t complain about it taking a long time. What I learnt today is that I shouldn’t only think about myself,” said iChang.
They also shared how appreciative they felt that Malaysians have been so welcoming towards them.
“I don’t want to forget this appreciation. With this appreciation, I want to convert it to create more content. We don’t want to take this for granted. I want to do new things.”
“Previously our videos were based on eating plus, we’ll be discovering more of the beauty of Malaysia. And we’ll be sharing it to people in Malaysia and to the world,” added the couple.
“They gave this chance to stay in Malaysia for us. We’ll go find it and share it to the world for them. This is how we can return (the favour) to them,” they stated.

We are glad to hear that the couple is finally back in Malaysia! Hopefully they will continue promoting Malaysia to their subscribers all over the world.
