What was meant to be a birthday celebration turned into a medical emergency for actress Jasmin Bhasin. The actress, who had flown to Dubai with boyfriend Aly Goni to ring in her 36th birthday on June 28, was hospitalised the same day after falling severely ill.
Bhasin shared a health update on Instagram, revealing she had been diagnosed with Terminal Ileitis alongside a serious infection. She said she was feeling better and hoped to recover soon, though she acknowledged the birthday had not gone as planned.
Aly Goni had earlier broken the news through a birthday post, writing that the couple found themselves in a hospital room instead of celebrating. In a subsequent update, he said she was receiving the best care and was slowly on the mend, asking fans to keep her in their prayers.
According to a study published in the Gastroenterology Research journal, Terminal Ileitis is an inflammatory condition affecting the terminal ileum- the last section of the small intestine. Those affected may suffer from lower right abdominal pain and diarrhoea and in severe cases lead to internal bleeding. Causes ranges from inflammatory bowel disease and infectious diseases.
Bhasin thanked fans for their messages and well wishes.
