PETALING JAYA: Johor Corporation (JCorp) will receive RM9 million in 2027 to continue developing a wastewater recycling plant at Ibrahim Technopolis (IBTEC) in Kulai, aimed at providing a sustainable water supply for industrial users, including data centres and electrical and electronics (E&E) manufacturers.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the allocation was provided under the 2027 development expenditure for JCorp to continue the physical implementation of the project.
In his winding-up speech on the Economy Ministry’s Budget 2027 committee-stage debate in the Dewan Rakyat today, he said the facility would recycle treated wastewater from an Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) sewage treatment plant, with a capacity of 4.5 million litres per day.
The recycled water is intended for industrial use at IBTEC, as well as to provide sustainable utility supply for data centre and E&E industries to attract more investors to the development.
The project had previously been put out to tender in 2025 for the proposed design and construction of a 4.5-million-litre-a-day industrial wastewater recycling plant at Sedenak Tech Park, IBTEC.
Johor’s wider push to supply reclaimed water to data centres has also been reported previously, including through an agreement between IWK and Johor Special Water in August 2025 to develop reclaimed water supply for data centre operators.
