JD Vance has issued a warning to Iran after the two nations agreed to a two-week ceasefire.

On Tuesday (7 April), Donald Trump announced that attacks will be temporarily paused as Iran agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking during an election rally in support of Viktor Orban in Hungary on Wednesday (8 April), Mr Vance discussed Iran’s response to the “fragile” truce.

He said that whilst some Iranians had “responded very favouably”, he claimed others were “lying about the nature of the ceasefire”.

Mr Vance urged Iranians to work with the US to bring the war to a close. He said if they don’t “negotiate in good faith”, then they will discover that Mr Trump is “not one to mess around with”.
