US Vice President JD Vance issued a warning to Tehran as he sets off for crucial negotiations between the US and Iran in Islamabad.
“We’re looking forward to negotiation. I think it's going to be positive,” Vance said Friday. “As the president of the United States said, if the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we're certainly willing to extend the open hand.
“If they're going to try to play us, then they're going to find the negotiating team is not that receptive,” he added. “So we're going to try to have a positive negotiation. The president gave us some pretty clear guidelines, and we're going to see.”
It comes after Trump accused Iran of doing a “dishonourable” job after the ceasefire by failing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Experts told The Independent that passage through the shipping route largely remains at a standstill.
