A BRUTAL double death, suspected to have been motivated by jealousy, has rocked the quiet neighbourhood of Taman Cempaka 2, Durian Tunggal, after a Bangladeshi construction labourer allegedly hacked and stabbed his housemate to death before hanging himself.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 6.30pm yesterday, saw both men found deceased in a single-storey terrace house.
Melaka Police Chief, Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, confirmed that police were alerted by the public around 7pm regarding the discovery of two male bodies.
The two deceased were identified as Bangladeshi nationals, aged 31 and 42, who worked together at a local construction site and were housemates, not siblings.
"They rented the house with another compatriot," Datuk Dzulkhairi explained.
The horrific scene was discovered by a third tenant who returned home shortly after the incident. Finding the house locked and receiving no answer, he sought a neighbour's help to gain entry.
The friend "then asked for help from a neighbour to open the door after seeing his 42-year-old friend lying on his back covered in blood in the kitchen." Neighbours then contacted the police for assistance.
Upon arrival, the police team found one man's body "in the kitchen covered in blood and another man hanging in a locked room."
Initial investigations have led police to suspect a homicide-suicide. "Initial investigations have found that the 42-year-old victim was killed by a man who hanged himself. So far, the motive is suspected to be jealousy," said Datuk Dzulkhairi.
The police chief detailed the suspected motive, stating: "This is because the man who died hanging in the room was married to an Indonesian woman who lived together in the house.
“However, the woman ran away with a child about two weeks ago."
He added, "We suspect that there may have been infidelity and infidelity between his wife and the suspect who died with 21 stab wounds to his head and body."
Police investigations, which were also confirmed by neighbours, suggest there had been a fight between the two victims.
The woman involved has been identified to assist with the investigation, and police have seized a machete and two knives believed to have been used in the fatal attack.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Members of the public with pertinent information are urged to contact the Senior Investigating Officer, Assistant Superintendent Norehan Omar, or the Criminal Investigation Division office, Alor Gajah IPD, at 06-5562222. - October 15, 2025
