
Kota Kinabalu: Choral and traditional music lovers can enjoy the upcoming 1st Jesselton Choir Fest, featuring the best vocal talents throughout Sabah at the JKKNS on Oct 6-7.
The two-day festival, organised by the Male-Efficient Choir Group (TME), will highlight the art of choral singing and Sabah’s cultural heritage.
One of the main conditions for application is that the songs selected must be the works of local Sabahan musical artistes.
The event is fully supported by the Ministry of Culture and Arts (JKKNS) and IPG Gaya Campus, as well as the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Arts.

Read more This year’s festival is set to showcase a contest of vocal talents with five categories in total, including Children, Teenage, Open, Equal Voices and Vocal Ensemble Categories.
Winners of each category will walk home with an RM1,000 prize, trophy and certificate of participation.
With the top prize of RM5,000 up for grabs, all winners of respective categories will again compete for the title of Champion of the Festival which also include a trophy and participation certificate.
The 1st Jesselton Choir Fest is an event not to be missed which will also showcase five choir groups as contestants, which among them include Cantabayu Children’s Choir, The Voice of Josephian, In Unity Chorale (IUC). Josephian Female-lody and Segaya Choir.
There will also be a Choir workshop which will be held on Oct 7, starting 8am until 11.30am at the JKKNS Auditorium. Members of the public can join the workship at no charge.
