- The chair of Jewish Greens, Vivien Lichtenstein, has said Zack Polanski should resign as leader after the Party voted for a motion which declared Zionism as racism.
- Speaking to Times Radio, Ms Lichtenstein said the Green Party leader made a “big mistake” not taking part in the debate on the party’s “Zionism is racism” motion at its conference last week, because he was campaigning in the by-election.
- Labour candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali won the Holborn and St Pancras seat with 12,292 votes, leaving Mr Polanski in second place with 8,928 votes.
- Despite the by-election defeat and controversy regarding the recent motion, Mr Polanski has vowed to continue as leader.
- When asked if he should resign, former Green leader Caroline Lucas did not say no. “I think let’s just see what happens in the coming days and weeks,” she said.
