According to a trusted source, one of the masterminds behind the infamous 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) heist wants to clear all charges against him.
In a desperate attempt to speed up the process of clearing his name from all charges, Jho Low made an offer that he thinks no one can refuse. The offer is a whopping RM1.5 billion and was offered to the Malaysian Government.
This makes you think. If a person is really innocent, will they make the kind of offer that Jho Low is now making? What does this offer show about Jho Low’s true involvement in the crime?
If Jho Low is indeed guilty and is really one of the masterminds behind the heist of 1MDB that involves billions of dollars, then giving away RM1.5 billion is really nothing to him. As he still gets to walk away with billions of dollars from the 1MDB heist.
However, a source revealed that the Malaysian government had turned down the big offer.
Jho Low is being sued for US$3.78 billion (about RM15.85 billion) by 1MDB and its four subsidiaries over allegations that he stole money from the fund.
It is known that Jho Low hired Tan Sri Apandi Ali, a former attorney general, to defend him in discussions with the Malaysian authorities.
In 2016, while serving as AG for Najib’s administration, Apandi Ali cleared former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak of all involvement in the 1MDB scandal.
Jho Low has an Interpol red alert against him and is a wanted fugitive, yet he still has a legal right to be defended and can choose to have a lawyer represent him.
In the United States, Low was charged with violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by bribing various Malaysian and Emirati officials in an attempt to launder billions of dollars embezzled by 1MDB in New York.
He was also separately charged in the District of Columbia for donating and concealing foreign and conduit campaigns during the 2012 US presidential election.
