Three family members killed in a JIM lorry crash in Jalan Sultan Ismail were buried in the same grave at Kampung Air Hitam Labu Cemetery, Kampar.

KAMPAR: The remains of three family members who died in a crash involving a Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) lorry at Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, early this morning were laid to rest at the Kampung Air Hitam Labu Muslim Cemetery here last night (August 19).

The remains of the late Shaik Mohd Firdaus Shaikh Yahya, 53, and his two daughters, Siti Nor Sazlin, 25, and Siti Darwisyah Auni, 12, were buried in the same grave at 11 pm.

About 300 villagers and acquaintances were present and stayed until the burial was completed as a final mark of respect.

Earlier, the remains of the retired soldier and his two daughters underwent post-mortem at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN), Kuala Lumpur Hospital, followed by funeral prayers at the Jamiul Ehsan Mosque in Jalan Pahang.

Meanwhile, his wife, Norhayati Razali, 55, is currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

It was earlier reported that three pedestrians from the same family were killed while another person was seriously injured after being hit by a JIM ‘Black Maria’ lorry at Jalan Sultan Ismail at about 1 am yesterday.

The crash is believed to have occurred when the unladen JIM lorry, en route to Chow Kit for an operation against illegal immigrants, entered the intersection while the traffic light was red, with its beacon lights and siren activated.

The official vehicle then collided with a Proton Saga travelling straight through a green light, causing the lorry to lose control, skid and crash into the family and an Inokom Matrix.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
