- Jimmy Kimmel has ridiculed Katie Zacharia following her disastrous inaugural briefing as US President Donald Trump's new White House press secretary, joking: “Her reading is good for an 11 year-old. He hired a fourth grader to be press secretary.”
- Zacharia, who was appointed on 9 October after leaving Trump's social media company to succeed Karoline Leavitt, delivered a brief 14-minute presentation in which she took only three questions and stumbled over her script.
- During the briefing, the new press secretary notably tripped over her words when discussing her family, accidentally referring to her husband as "my president" before quickly correcting herself.
- The press conference also featured the announcement that Kimberly Guilfoyle, the US ambassador to Greece, had been asked to resign after reports alleged she asked a donor to clear her six-figure credit card debt.
- President Trump subsequently attempted to distance himself from Guilfoyle by telling reporters she merely dated his son a long time ago, despite her having been engaged to Donald Trump Jr. for several years.
