Jimmy Kimmel couldn’t resist poking fun at Donald Trump’s so-called FIFA Peace Prize during a light-hearted segment with California governor Gavin Newsom.

Newsom appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his new book, Young Man In a Hurry, and the host used the opportunity to stage a playful reference to the unusual award linked to Trump.

The moment quickly turned into a tongue-in-cheek nod to the ongoing political rivalry between the two men.

Jimmy Kimmel pokes fun at Donald Trump’s FIFA Peace Prize

During the interview, Jimmy Kimmel handed Gavin Newsom an oversized trophy, joking that it represented a fictitious peace prize from FIFA.

Josh Meyers joined in, appearing on stage dressed as Newsom to present the award. The segment was played entirely for laughs, with Kimmel asking the governor if he’d like to say a few words in acceptance.

“Look, this is long overdue. And I assume it comes with a third term?… Eat your heart out, Donald!”

The trophy itself was labelled the “2026 FIFA Skydance Paramount Netflix Warner Bros Big A– Lipton Cup O Peace.”

Gavin Newsom on conversations with Donald Trump

Newsom also spoke about his relationship with Trump, recalling a phone call that took place just before federal forces were deployed in California.

The governor said Trump had used a mocking nickname for him during one of their exchanges and later claimed he had strongly reprimanded Newsom before ordering the federalization of the National Guard.

Newsom said the conversations reflected the unusual dynamic between the two political figures. His appearance on Jimmy Kimmel reaffirmed the antagonistic dynamic the two political figures have.
