After a two-year wait, Malaysian fans were finally reunited with the Golden Melody King, JJ Lin, as he brought his JJ20 FINAL LAP World Tour to Kuala Lumpur on May 10. Despite the less-than-ideal weather, the night turned out to be nothing short of magical, blending music, emotion, and surprises that left the crowd in awe.

Halfway through the concert, dark clouds loomed, and the rain began pouring, threatening to dampen the spirit of the night. But just when things seemed gloomy, local Malaysian singer Lin Yu Zhong made a surprise appearance.

In a twist of fate—or perhaps a playful coincidence—the rain miraculously stopped as he stepped onto the stage. Sharing a laugh with the audience, Lin Yu Zhong joked, “I came out to save the show!” JJ responded with a grin, “Oh really? Then maybe it’s my fault?” The duo’s witty banter had the crowd roaring with laughter before they moved on to perform the nostalgic duet Rose (抢玫瑰).

Even as the rain poured earlier, JJ Lin stayed committed to his performance. Fans watched in admiration as he chose to brave the rain, moving closer to the crowd, connecting with them on a deeply personal level. During his performance of Yuan Yu Chou, he reassured his fans, “I’ll stay with you!” and reminded them lovingly to wear raincoats and not catch a cold.

This wasn’t just a concert—it was a full-scale production. JJ shared that the entire stage had been upgraded with massive screens, extended platforms, and state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems to bring him physically and emotionally closer to his fans. Add in cinematic-level effects like fountains and fireworks, and it was clear: no photo or video could truly capture the grandeur of the live experience.

The upgraded stage design reflected JJ’s desire to narrow the gap between him and his audience. “We made the stage bigger just to get closer to all of you,” he said sincerely. With nearly 40 songs performed, including fan requests like Go (加油), If Only (可惜没如果), Eyes That Smile(爱笑的眼睛), and Wings(翅膀), JJ kept the energy alive all night.

Even while JJ briefly stepped offstage for an outfit change, the crowd kept the energy going with spontaneous crowd waves, showing their unwavering support and joy. Later, JJ teased fans with exciting news—he’s working on new music! “I’ve been spending more time at the piano recently, writing songs. There are many new creations on the way, including collaborations… but please be patient. Collaborations take time,” he said with a smile, hinting that more surprises are in store.

In true JJ fashion, he also teased fans with hints of new music, revealing that he’s been writing songs and collaborating with others. “I can’t keep secrets well… there’s a lot of new stuff coming, but please be patient!”

Toward the end, JJ took a moment to thank his loved ones and fans who’ve supported him throughout the years. “My mom and friends are here tonight,” he shared warmly.

Before wrapping up, JJ asked the crowd, “Are you all having fun? We’re almost at the end, but I think there’s one song we can’t leave without… shall we sing River South (江南)?” The night ended on a high note with a touching encore of Twilight (不为谁而作的歌), Above The Fray (光阴副本), and No Turning Back (交换余生).

Rain or shine, JJ Lin once again proved why he’s one of the most beloved performers in the Mandopop world—leaving fans soaked, not just in rain, but in joy, emotion, and unforgettable memories.
