KUALA LUMPUR - Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable infrastructure development through the introduction of three strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening governance, standardisation and digital transformation across its project delivery ecosystem.
Speaking at the pH JKR Day 2026 programme, themed “Standard Diperkukuh, Kelestarian Diperkasa”, Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said sustainability must become a fundamental principle guiding the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of government assets.
The three initiatives introduced are the JKR Sustainable Development Policy, JKR/SIRIM Standard 2:2025 for pH JKR Buildings and the e-pH JKR System. Together, they are expected to strengthen governance, standardise green assessment practices, accelerate digitalization and improve the efficiency of sustainable project implementation.
Nanta said modern infrastructure should not only meet technical and safety standards but also deliver long-term value by enhancing public well-being, protecting the environment and supporting future generations. He stressed that the success of development should be measured not merely by the number of completed projects, but by their resilience, resource efficiency and lasting benefits to society.
He also emphasized that strong standards and sound governance are essential to maintaining public confidence in government infrastructure, while recognizing JKR personnel and project teams for their contributions to advancing sustainable development practices across the organization.
