New eco-conscious Pirelli P Zero tyres debut on select New Range Rover models with 22” wheels in 2025, combining recycled and bio-based components for performance and sustainability.

JLR is taking a bold step in sustainable luxury by becoming the first automaker in the industry to introduce tyres made from over 70% recycled and renewable materials. Developed in partnership with global tyre giant Pirelli, these innovative P Zero tyres will be offered as standard on select 2025 New Range Rover models equipped with 22-inch wheels, with plans for broader adoption across JLR’s entire portfolio.

At the heart of this innovation is a sophisticated blend of eco-conscious materials designed to match or exceed performance standards without compromising on environmental responsibility. Key components include:

  • Silica sourced from rice husks—a by-product of rice milling—replacing traditional quartz sand.
  • Plant-based resins and biopolymers, derived from agricultural waste and used cooking oil, replacing fossil-derived materials.
  • Recycled carbon black recovered from end-of-life tyres, enhancing durability and structural integrity.
  • Recycled steel, used to strengthen the tyre’s core for better handling and stability.
  • FSC-certified natural rubber, supporting ethical sourcing and responsible forestry management.

Beyond reducing reliance on virgin resources, these materials offer greater efficiency in processing and improved end-of-life recyclability, underscoring JLR’s commitment to circular economy principles.

The tyres are third-party certified to verify both quantity and quality of bio-based and recycled content, ensuring transparency and credibility. This latest initiative builds on JLR’s global leadership, following its world-first roll-out of FSC-certified rubber tyres across its range last year.

Together with Pirelli, JLR aims to reach 100% sustainable material use in tyres over time, reinforcing its focus on environmental innovation, luxury, and performance. With the launch of these next-gen tyres, JLR continues to drive the future of sustainable mobility—one revolution at a time. It will be interesting to see how rival tyre brands will respond to this move.
