Joachim pays last respects to late Taib Mahmud

Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Chief Minister II abdul Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam representing the Chief Minister Sabah paid final respects to the late Tun Taib Mahmud in a wake at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly building in Kuching this morning.

Joachim, accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Lindah Ewit and Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Ruslan Muharam, also conveyed condolences to the family and the people of Sarawak for their loss.

"He was one of the longest serving Chief Ministers (Premier) who had made Sarawak very great and what it is today. So, we also felt the loss of their great leader," said Dr Joachim, who is also the Local Government and Housing Minister, in a statement.

Abdul Taib, also known as the Father of Modern Sarawak, died at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur at 4.40 am Wednesday.
