
MANILA, Philippines — The number of unemployed Filipinos edged up in June, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Thursday.
Data showed that unemployment rose to 4.9 percent from May’s 4.8 percent. It is also higher than the 3.7 percent recorded a year earlier. This is the highest rate recorded since March’s 5.0 percent.
Underemployment, meanwhile, recorded a downtick of 12.1 percent from 12.2 percent a month earlier. It is, however, higher than the 11.4 percent in June 2025.
Employment slightly declined to 95.1 percent from 95.2 percent and 96.3 percent a month and year earlier, respectively.
Labor force participation in June was recorded at 65.1 percent, higher than the 63.8 percent in May but slightly lower than the 65.7 percent in June 2025.
