Michelle Yeoh continues to make Malaysians proud by making more achievements abroad.

Just today, the Ipoh-born actress received the highest honour of the United States – the Presidential Medal of Freedom. According to Forbes Breaking News, US President Joe Biden was also present at the formal ceremony at the White House.

The medal was awarded to Michelle Yeoh as a token of her outstanding achievement in the movie, which won her an Oscar – Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. Michelle is the first Asian to have won the Best Actress Award at the 95th Academy Awards last year for her role as Evelyn in the movie.

During the ceremony, Biden did not miss sharing some words of appreciation for Michelle’s contribution to the Hollywood industry, saying,

“Michelle successfully broke down stereotypes and enriched American culture.”

Biden also said that Michelle’s myriads of roles go way beyond culture, language, and gender. From martial arts to romantic comedies and science fiction, Biden said it all shows our commonality.

The medal is the US’ highest civilian award.

“As the first Asian to win an Oscar, Yeoh connects cultures not only to entertain but also to inspire and enlighten many to this day. Congratulations!
