John Stones described Pep Guardiola as the “greatest manager” of all time as he discussed the influence of the Manchester City boss on the England team.

The Three Lions are preparing for a Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland but have struggled through the tournament so far, with Gareth Southgate facing criticism over his tactics and team selection.

Asked by a reporter about playing for Guardiola at club level, Stones revealed that he tries to bring “ideas and solutions” to the national team.

“I’m sure you’ve heard me say before about knowing football before I played under Pep... and quickly realising I knew nothing,” the defender explained.
