Fruit-forward, sweeter and vibrant, Johnnie Walker Black Ruby is the latest addition to the Johnnie Walker core range. The blended Scotch whisky takes the expressions that the distillery has long been known for and adds an energetic twist. Now available in Malaysia, the complex and versatile notes of the Johnnie Walker Black Label are imbued with a touch (or two) of brightness.
“With vibrant rich berries note and deep honeyed sweetness, Johnnie Walker Black Ruby tantalises the palate with bold accents of figs, plums, and maraschino cherries. There is a subtle hint of spice and delicate smoke that adds to the complexity, creating a unique and vibrant energy in every sip,” said Dr. Emma Walker, Johnnie Walker Master Blender.
How did Johnnie Walker Black Ruby come to be? Dr. Emma Walker and her team first selected expressions from Scotland including from Highland distilleries (such as Clynelish), Lowland distilleries like Glenkinchie and Cameronbridge as well as Cardhu from Speyside and Islay’s Caol Ila. All these whiskies come together alongside one of Johnnie Walker’s newest and single malt spots — Roseisle.
Hence, one can expect the Johnnie Walker Black Ruby to offer notes of spiced honey and dark red fruits on the nose. On the palate, look forward to a hint of stewed plums and chocolate before going into a smoky finish. The Johnnie Walker Black Ruby is bottled at 40% ABV.
The Johnnie Walker Black Ruby expression was officially unveiled in Malaysia on 25 September 2026 at Vox Live Kuala Lumpur. During the launch party, the beautiful bottle and its rich spirit took the spotlight — alongside sets by DJs Vikna, Yazzi and Jaelyn.
Throughout the night, three of Malaysia’s most talented mixologists took to the bar to serve up delectable concoctions including Lee Wei Lung of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Rachel Hor of Three X Co and Anna Koh of Reka:Bar. Via a mixology performance, each bartender showcased their respective takes on a Black Ruby cocktail. Additionally, to shine a light on the versatility of the whisky, cocktails in the form of ‘Ruby Negroni’, ‘Ruby Spritz’, ‘Sparkling Ruby’ and ‘Ruby On A Paper’ were served to guests at the launch party.
