Who is in the cast of the movie Ebenezer?
Johnny Depp leads the cast as the iconic Ebenezer Scrooge, while Rupert Grint plays his loyal employee Bob Cratchit.
The ensemble also features Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley, Daisy Ridley as Emily Cratchit and Sam Claflin as Fred.

Based on Charles Dickens‘ 1843 book A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer reimagines the timeless story with a darker gothic tone. It follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, a wealthy businessman whose cold-hearted outlook and disdain for Christmas have left him isolated from those around him. On Christmas Eve, he is haunted by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, forcing him to confront the choices he has made, the lives he has touched and the legacy he will leave behind as he embarks on a path towards redemption.
What does the trailer reveal?
Paramount Pictures released the first trailer during San Diego Comic-Con 2026 after Depp surprised fans by appearing in costume as Ebenezer Scrooge.
The trailer leans heavily into Ti West’s signature gothic style, with eerie Victorian visuals, supernatural horror and dark comedy. It introduces Scrooge’s encounters with the Christmas spirits while showcasing Depp’s dramatic transformation into the iconic miser.
It then shows Scrooge spreading misery through snow-covered streets, throwing snowballs at passers-by while being tormented by haunting supernatural visions. The footage also hints at a more unsettling and visually striking interpretation of the classic story, blending psychological horror with dark humour.
At the end of the trailer of the horror-fantasy, Depp’s Scrooge targets a passing couple with a snowball before laughing and declaring, “Ha ha ha! Merry Christmas.”
