JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 28 — Johor and Singapore have proven that economic success is not about competition but a strategic partnership that benefits the entire region, said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said this was demonstrated through the collaborative framework being developed under the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which shows that Johor and Singapore have complementary competitive advantages.

“The alignment of these two strengths will bring about an economic capability that is more strategic and competitive at the international level,” he said in a Facebook post.

Earlier, Onn Hafiz welcomed Singapore’s National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat and his delegation at the Johor Menteri Besar’s official residence Saujana Johor Bahru.

Onn Hafiz said the JS-SEZ is expected to help speed up investment approvals, reduce trade barriers, and expand access to global markets, which in turn will create more high-quality jobs for the people of Johor and Singapore.

He added that the Johor state government deeply appreciates Singapore’s commitment and openness in continuing to strengthen cross-border cooperation for mutual benefit.

“May this special relationship continue to be strengthened for a more prosperous, resilient, and harmonious future for Johor and Singapore,” he said. — Bernama
