A football viewing session in Johor Bahru reportedly descended into chaos early this morning after Spain and Argentina supporters were involved in a physical altercation at a local mamak restaurant.
According to ChinaPress, what began as a confrontation between two or three individuals quickly escalated after both sides allegedly threw cups at each other.
The situation became increasingly heated when one individual was seen kicking over a table in frustration. The confrontation then turned physical, with members of both groups reportedly throwing chairs at one another.
The disturbing footage showed several individuals engaging in a physical fight, with some allegedly punching and kicking people who had fallen to the ground.
At one point, another person attempted to intervene and break up the fight. However, the attempt reportedly backfired when the individual was also struck by a chair during the chaos.
Other football fans who were watching the match nearby appeared reluctant to step in, instead keeping their distance as chairs and other objects were being thrown. Many reportedly feared that they could also be injured if they attempted to intervene.
The incident eventually appeared to calm down, with both groups seemingly regaining control of their emotions.
Towards the end of the video, a football fan could be heard using a microphone to reprimand those involved, reminding them that everyone had gathered to watch the football match, not to watch people fight.
Some social media users claimed that the two groups involved were Malay and Indian supporters. However, the identities and backgrounds of those involved have not been independently verified.
The exact location and time of the incident were not stated in the original post. However, it is believed to have taken place at a mamak restaurant in Johor Bahru during the World Cup final.
