Fourteen Johor Bersatu division chiefs declare no confidence in Muhyiddin Yassin, citing leadership failure and disciplinary abuse, as vice-president Kiandee urges his resignation.
JOHOR BAHRU: Fourteen Bersatu division chiefs from Johor have declared a loss of confidence in party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic). They cited the leadership’s failure to manage an internal crisis and alleged abuse of disciplinary procedures.
Tanjung Piai division chief Musa Khamis said the Disciplinary Board’s action against deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and his supporters seemed aimed at protecting the president. “This disciplinary action gives the impression that it is being used as a tool to maintain the president’s hold on power,” he said in a statement.
He warned the developments have tarnished Bersatu’s image and could strain relationships within the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
In a separate development, Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee called for Muhyiddin to step down. Kiandee, who is also Sabah Bersatu chairman, said the internal crisis is worsening and has not been managed effectively.
He described recent disciplinary charges against Hamzah as a regressive move. “This action reflects a desperate abuse of disciplinary procedures to silence the voices of the party’s senior leadership,” he stated.
Kiandee alleged the party now appears directionless and focused on retaining Muhyiddin’s power. He claimed Muhyiddin is using all means to defend his position for a personal agenda to return as prime minister.
This includes blocking Hamzah’s path to future party leadership, according to Kiandee’s statement.
