KUALA LUMPUR – Pontian Bersatu division chief, Datuk Isa Ab Hamid, has been dismissed from his position as Johor Bersatu secretary last night.

When contacted by Scoop, Isa said he was informed by Johor Bersatu chairman, Datuk Sahrudin Jamal, that the position would be replaced with the Iskandar Puteri Bersatu chief, Samsudin Ismail.

According to Isa, although Sahrudin mentioned it as a replacement, he understood it as a dismissal.

He added that no reason was given for the move.

“Last night after the Perikatan Nasional (PN) meeting at the Bersatu office in Batu Pahat, the chairman informed me of the decision. He said it was a replacement, but if it were truly a reshuffle, I would be given another position. So I understood it as a dismissal.

“I have no issue with it as it is his prerogative. I was informed verbally and will now wait for an official letter,” he said.

Asked about the reason behind his dismissal, Isa said he was not informed but believed it was related to the 120 division chiefs who signed a Statutory Declaration (SD) urging Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to step down.

He said it may also be linked to his participation in the Semarak roadshow, although he attended only to understand the real issue.

“I think it’s another issue. I performed my duties as the Johor Bersatu secretary,” he said, adding that he will now focus on his role as Pontian Bersatu division chief.

As several Bersatu division chiefs have already been expelled from the party, Isa said he is ready to face the disciplinary board if summoned.

Last Tuesday, two Bersatu division chiefs, Datuk Suhaimi Mohd Ghazali (Sepang) and Mohd Shukor Mustaffa (Puchong) were sacked with immediate effect.

Party disciplinary board chairman, Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan, confirmed through a notice that both were sacked for violating Clause 9.1.4 of the Bersatu Constitution, as well as the Party Ethics and Code of Conduct.

When asked about internal conflicts in Bersatu, Isa said he believes a third party is attempting to take advantage of the situation and “heat up” the issue surrounding support for Muhyiddin and his deputy, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

He added that some MPs disagreed with the proposal to replace Hamzah with Datuk Seri Radzi Jidin as Opposition Leader.

“Some (MPs) don’t agree, so there’s no real issue. Even if Radzi is chosen, many would not accept it,” he said.

Earlier, a leaked internal draft document dated November 10 claimed to be a confidential letter by Bersatu leadership urging immediate action against several individuals to restore party unity went viral.

The letter, without an official letterhead but marked as confidential, proposed that Bersatu appoint Radzi as the new Opposition Leader to replace Hamzah. – November 21, 2025
