Previously, Johor Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi went viral for his surprise spot check at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex in Johor Bharu and made noise over its operational inefficiencies.
Well, Onn Hafiz is back at it again, making another surprise spot check at CIQ and unfortunately, it seems that there are still inefficiency problems at the Malaysia-Singapore border.
In another viral TikTok video shared by @jdt01unite, the Johor MB found that there was a traffic bottleneck for motorcyclists going through the checkpoint and reprimanded CIQ management after finding out the reason.
As of the time of writing, the video has garnered more than 1.6 million views and over 118,000 likes.
In the video, Onn Hafiz can be seen asking the CIQ management why the motorcyclists going through the checkpoint are honking.
An Immigration officer can then be heard replying that the honking is normal but the Johor MB rebutted this, saying that ‘something is happening’ because it wasn’t like this during his last visit.
The Johor MB then asserted,
“This is the first time I’m seeing this kind of traffic bottleneck. Something is happening down there.”
It was then revealed that the traffic is caused by CIQ only having one motorcycle lane open because there was a skylift blocking the way, presumably for maintenance work.
The Johor MB then ordered for the skylift to be removed and reprimanded CIQ management for leaving the skylift there during rush hour.
Onn Hafiz can be heard saying,
“I knew it. You can’t do this. The skylift is blocking the way. You tell your driver to move the vehicle now. Why would you want to block the way during early mornings like this?”
The video then showed the situation after the skylift was removed, with the traffic running smoothly.
