POLICE are tracking down an e-hailing driver alleged to have sexually harassed a female passenger, following the circulation of a video on social media that has sparked public outrage.

Johor Bahru South district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said that, as of now, no police report has been received in connection with the incident.

He said police became aware of a viral video on social media showing what is believed to be an act of sexual harassment involving a woman inside a vehicle driven by the suspect.

“However, checks have found that no police report has been lodged so far. As such, police are in the process of identifying the individuals involved, potential witnesses and the actual cause of the incident,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Raub also advised the public not to continue sharing the video, warning that its spread could lead to misunderstandings, speculation and disruption to social harmony.

Members of the public with information related to the incident have been urged to contact the Johor Bahru South District Police Headquarters hotline at 07-218 2323 to assist investigations.

Earlier, the video, believed to have been recorded by the female passenger herself, went viral on social media and triggered widespread anger over the driver’s alleged immoral behaviour. - February 3, 2026
