The one-day special sitting of the Johor state assembly scheduled for June 22 has been cancelled after the dissolution announcement by the Menteri Besar.
JOHOR BAHRU: The one-day special sitting of the Johor State Legislative Assembly, scheduled for June 22, has been cancelled following the announcement of the dissolution of the assembly by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi yesterday.
Johor State Assembly Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi confirmed the matter when contacted today.
“Cancelled,” he said briefly.
On May 29, several Johor state assemblymen were reported to have received official notices to attend the sitting.
Among those who had confirmed receiving the notice were Bukit Kepong assemblyman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, Johor Jaya assemblyman Liow Cai Tung and Sri Medan assemblyman Datuk Zulkurnain Kamisan.
Yesterday, Onn Hafiz announced the dissolution of the state assembly, paving the way for the state election to be held within 60 days.
