Johor state election: MACC receives three reports of alleged corruption

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received reports on three allegations of corruption and abuse of power related to the Johor State Election (PRN)  as of yesterday.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the commission has so far received one complaint from the Election Campaign Enforcement Team (PP-KPR) in Batu Pahat, while the other two were general public reports.

“We are currently reviewing all the information and investigating it in accordance with the relevant regulations and legal provisions.

“We will not compromise with any party found to have committed any electoral corruption offence regardless of the political party position or individual background,” he said.

MACC has opened five operations rooms in Johor Bahru, Segamat, Kluang, Batu Pahat and Mersing to make it easier for the public to channel information related to corruption or abuse of power throughout the election period.

At the same time, he reminded all candidates, supporters and voters to comply with the law throughout the campaign period until polling day.

He said the MACC wants the people to vote without fear and trembling and is confident that their votes cannot be bought, influenced or traded.

“MACC will continue to monitor and take firm action against any party that tries to taint the democratic process through corrupt practices.

“A clean election not only guarantees the integrity of the democratic system, but also strengthens the people’s trust in institutions,” he said. – July 9, 2026
