Johor UMNO Youth has voiced strong support for the proposal to establish Rumah Bangsa, describing it as a timely and structured effort to restore the foundations of Malay political consensus that many believe have weakened in recent years. The endorsement follows the decision reached at the UMNO General Assembly 2025, which concluded on January 17, 2026.

Johor UMNO Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros said the initiative reflects an awareness within the party of the current political climate, where Malay politics is facing fragmentation alongside what he described as a leadership vacuum. In this context, he viewed Rumah Bangsa as a platform designed to rebuild unity and provide clearer direction for Malay leadership at a time of growing uncertainty.

According to Noor Azleen, the concept is expected to be developed further through the formation of the Rumah Bangsa Unification Committee, which will be chaired by UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He said the committee’s role would be central in refining the idea into a workable framework that could bridge divisions among Malay-based political groups and organisations.

He added that Johor UMNO Youth sees Rumah Bangsa as a reflection of UMNO’s willingness to seek common ground rooted in Malay and Islamic identity, while addressing long-standing divisions that have weakened collective political influence. In his view, the prolonged absence of cohesive leadership has prevented Malay political parties from offering a convincing vision or fresh ideas capable of reviving the spirit of unity many grassroots supporters continue to expect.

The statement followed UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s announcement at the assembly that Rumah Bangsa was being proposed as a unifying platform for Malays and Muslims, with the aim of addressing political fragmentation and strengthening leadership cohesion.

At the same time, Noor Azleen urged the party to move quickly in defining clear terms of reference, participation criteria and implementation mechanisms to ensure the initiative does not remain a symbolic gesture. He stressed that effectiveness would depend on clarity, transparency and a structured approach.

Johor UMNO Youth also proposed that the committee actively engage a wide range of stakeholders, including Malay-based political parties, non-governmental organisations, academics, professionals and independent thinkers, to ensure the platform reflects broad-based aspirations rather than narrow interests.

While supporting the initiative, Noor Azleen cautioned that Rumah Bangsa should not be reduced to a short-term electoral strategy or a tool serving party-centric goals. Instead, he said it must function as an inclusive platform aimed at safeguarding Malay and Bumiputera rights in line with the Federal Constitution, while remaining respectful of Malaysia’s multi-racial fabric to avoid deepening societal divisions.
